Article 1. Objectives

This convention has the following party-focussed objectives:
- To engage a broad community of development and content conversion actors in the articulation and open externalization of knowledge commons in order to improve their provide and growth in sustainable development initiatives.
- To establish clear procedures for the signatories' interaction with the externalized knowledge commons, for instance: how to express and reflect the commons-attribute in combination (derived) works.
- To establish a code-of-conduct for the signatories' interaction with knowledge commons that is not available yet under an open access regime (in a particular language).
For the knowledge commons, these party-focussed objectives must imply the following:
- the cumulative articulation and global visibility of knowledge that is in the public domain;
- the ensuring of a maximal provision of knowledge commons, globally;
- the accelerated enactment of services to localize knowledge commons as part of projects and programmes aiming for sustainable development, and the empowerment of smallholders.
